THE AUTHOR

Marianne Ibler, Architect, Ph.D in theory/history received her degree in architecture at Aarhus School of Architecture and at Facoltà di Architettura at La Sapienza University, Rome. She has an MA in East Asian studies from Aarhus University.

From 1996-2006 Marianne Ibler worked as a researcher and teacher at Aarhus School of Architecture and at the department of Architecture & Design at Aalborg University. She has enjoyed giving guest lectures at several leading architectural and cultural institutions in Denmark and abroad, most recently at the American Institute of Architects in New York. Marianne Ibler is vice Chairman of Docomomo Denmark, she is a RIBA member, and has been consultant at the Danish leading architectural studios schmidt hammer lassen Architects and KPF Arkitekter AS.

In addition to the Global Danish Architecture book series, Marianne Ibler has written numerous articles and books, e.g. Kay Fisker and The Danish Academy in Rome, Mestre og Manierister, Modern Japanese Architecture – Masters and Mannerists in the 1950-60s, and Gårdhavehuse i Beijing. Marianne Ibler has also collaborated with Danish Professor Emeritus Tobias Faber, architect Toyo Ito, and the late Historian of architecture, Bruno Zevi, in several of her books.
